TNS could not resolve service name [message #274447]

Hi all
i have installed forms6i on XP & oracle 9i on same machine.
i connected to oracle but while connecting with forms it gives the error as TNS could not resolve the service name.
i have set the tns in tnsname.ora file then also it shows error.
can any one give me the solution for this.

my datbase name is axiom

Have you set the TNSNAMES in both Oracle homes? The easiest is to use the IFILE notation to point to the other TNSNAMES.ORA file.

yes i hane set in both oracle homes
but still it is not working
i m not getting where is the problem

Check that host name is correct and also check that is the Sid is correct.

If both is correct then check that is it connecting through SQL with connect string.

Also, search this forum for 'tns_admin' and consider whether using it would be easier.

Hi

I Have this problem . I install Form6i and Oracle 9i On WINXP
with these step :

1- Uninstall OLD Oracle . delete all keys in registry and delete All Folders .

2- install DEVELOPER on DRIVE:\orant

3- install ORACLE DATABASE 9 on DRIVE:\oracle\ora90 with HOME :orahome90 .

4 - do not modify TNSNAMES .

5 - USE FORMS6i and ORACLE 9i

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would have suggested installing and testing the database before installing the Forms Developer.

So what is the problem that you are currently facing?
