I use WindowsXP professional Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2 and Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition Server machine (Windows2003)

I installed oracle 9.2.0.1 client then installed oracle forms 6i version 6.0.8.11.3. I need to be able to start up forms and then be able to connect to the instance created in oracle 9i. I cannot recall how to do this. I just want forms to be able to connect to this 9i database.i installed them into different homes

When i connect oracle 9.2.0.1 client (sqlplus) no error.but when i connect from oracle forms 6i version 6.0.8.11.3 Error IS ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name

after that I copy file client Home =oracle\ora92\network\admin\tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora and paste to oracleForm\ora92\Net80\Admin\tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora

error is OBE-15387: Login failed and ORA-03106: fatal two-task communication protocol error

Why did you call the Forms 6i home "oracleForm\ora92"?

Okay. Put the Forms 6i files back. (You did keep a copy didn't you?) Add the extra information from the 6i copy to the 9i database copy and either use the 'ifile' construct (search this forum for 'ifile') to associate the two, or use the 'tns_admin' environment variable to point to the database copy of tnsnames.ora

Copying the 9i database files to the 9i client files doesn't help Forms 6i to run. You need to change the Forms 6i copy of the files to know what is currently in the 9i database fiels.

STOP COPYING and just READ the files and update them OR use 'ifiles' OR use 'tns_admin'.

David

Upd: Change 'ifles' to 'ifiles'.

Give us the whole message - ora-03106 just isn't good enough.

By the way, did you use 'ifile' or 'tns_admin'?

David

Upd: Change "ins't" to "isn't".

At which tnsnames.ora did you point the 'tns_admin' environment variable?

Did you search this forum for 'two task'? Have a look at http://www.orafaq.com/forum/m/225892/67467/?srch=two+task+david#msg_225892
