Hello Everyone,

I am new to this forum. Warm greetings to everyone.

Actually we are planning to migrate our forms4.5 to forms6i with user exits. On AIX5L 32-bit (64-bit processors) all looks ok so far, but since we are also planning to move from Oracle8 to Oracle9 and this version only runs on a 64-bit AIX platform (or am I wrong?), does anyone have any experience on Form6i in character mode running in a 64-bit machine/OS?

Unfortunaltey metalink.oracle.com specifies everything as unsupported, so any cert. matrix doesn't give me any answers.

Don't ask me why we still use Forms in char. mode Sad

Regards,
Richard.

I suggest you stick with Forms 6 (not 6i). You are using character mode so that you can run the Form on the same machine as the database (no third layer required) and via a green screen so that you have an environment which is safe from 'screen sniffers'.

Thank's David, the fact is I am trying to avoid older versions of Forms6. I don't have much time for experimenting, if no one has any experience, I will have do go through some tests by myself.

Thanks again,
Richard.

Sorry. I assumed you wanted to stay on 32-bit machinery.

Have a look at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/formsservicesfaq.html and search for 'character mode'.

When working with Forms 6i use the last patchset, I think it is number 17.

Okay, there may be a patch 18 see http://blogs.oracle.com/schan/discuss/msgReader$164

I did the following search on google - 'Oracle Forms Developer Oracle Forms Services 6i Patch 17' and found http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/forms/6idocs/relnotef_p17_w.pdf which says "Release Notes, Release 6.0.8.26 for Windows, January 2005". I then did 'Oracle Forms Developer Oracle Forms Services 6i Patch 18' and found nothing useful.
