how to associate dynamic record group with lov [message #136457]

i use create_group_from_query built in and pupulate this dynamic record group by populate_group.can anyone tell how i shall associate this record group with lov ?. can i dynamically create lov.

Have a look at http://www.orafaq.com/forum/m/133985/67467/?srch=record+group#msg_133985.

You can dynamically change the record group associated with an LOV. IMO there's little point in trying to create an LOV dynamically as you have to point the result to a field and that can not be changed.

Have a look in the reference manual and you will see that there is only a limited range of characteristics of an LOV that can be changed.

hi David

i created record group dynamically say rg1.then i create a lov at design time say lov1. and i set this lov with set_lov_property('lov1',group_name,'rg1'). but when i run form it gives error unable to find recor group for lov lov1.

so how can i solve this problem.

Better question ... search this forum for 'record group', 'record_group', and 'lov'. Read, at least, three threads from top to bottom. Look at the code that they have use, modify yours appropriately. and run it. Come back to us with any further questions.

hi david

by going through forum,i found out that one has to create a design time record group for design time lov.but dynamically one can set lov to different record group provided datatype and no. of coloumns of both record group should be same.

but is it only way.can't we create lov dynamically .
